Bekele Yutute CoE “Afro Funk #8”
Bekele Yutute CoE “Afro Funk #8” is part of a limited series of coffees from international roasters currently available at BEATNIK, made accessible to UK customers who can’t visit us in person.
Some of these roasters don’t ship here. Others do, but only if you’re willing to pay an arm and a leg, hit minimums that make no sense and hope UK customs don’t completely ruin your day.
So we thought—fine, we’ll do it ourselves.

Bekele Yutute farms just under 4 hectares in the highlands of Bensa, Sidama, at 2,300-2,350 masl. His farm, Denbi, is planted mainly with 74158, a JARC selection known for both quality and resilience. For years, Bekele sold cherries to cooperatives. More recently, he’s begun processing and exporting his own coffee, working with small, family-run drying sites like Kokose and Murago. His coffees are typically natural or anaerobic, dried slowly on raised beds after meticulous cherry selection. This lot sits within a new wave of coffees coming out of the region, pushing what Ethiopian naturals can be.
